Wow -- very cool Billzfan! I have no talent when it comes to pumpkin carving - I leave it to the pro -- my husband.

    I am impressed!

The key is... draw the thing.. or trace it first, then carve it..haha..

The reason we carve faces in pumpkins, faces rather than any other symbols, probably relates to the celt's belief that the head was the seat of the soul. They beheaded their victims and severed heads were considered protective.

A Celtic myth I re-read recently in a book "Celtic Myths and Legends" tells the tale of Bran the blessed. He had his head severed and it was placed on a hill in London facing the English channel as a protection against invaders of the "land of the Mighty".

So we put carved "head replicas" out at Halloween as a protection.

    I love Halloween - Samhain.

Also a pumpkin carver! Love it as an art form.

I thought this was Bran the Blessed?

    Moving pictrure isn't it?

I'm too cheap to give out candy to all the neighbourhood brats, so I don't want to carve a pumpkin and put it out.
