This excerpt is from todays "The Times":

From tomorrow new laws will give you access to the data held on you.

"From tomorrow new data protection laws come into force which will enable people to see files stored on them. Data protection laws have been around since the mid-Eighties, but with little impact. This is set to change. The impact will be across the board — from patients’ records to files held manually by universities. The biggest impact will be in the workplace: employees will be able to access confidential personnel files; job references and bonus assessments will not be immune. Employers will have to use information on employees fairly — and exposed to challenge if they fail. This new duty extends from job application to the ending of employment and spans almost everything in between including job selection, salary reviews, appraisals, monitoring of e-mail and phones, sickness handling and disciplinary matters."

Who's going to join me in writing to our old JC's and asking to see what personal details are held on file?

I did so in Norway, and they will probably just say the same to you: We have no files on you.

    Eman,

The British branch sent out a letter to all BOE some tiime ago instructing them to 'have no files'.

Some years ago, the Australia branch made sure the same instruction went out to all BOE here. There are no files.

    Cheers,
    Ozzie
