to call my mom today on her 70TH BIRTHDAY!! That's a very big deal, and it will pass like nothing. Besides the fact that she and my dad are totally out of my life, it's pretty sad that such a momentous day should pass without celebration or reflection from friends and family!!

My mom turned 70 this past June (and my dad turned 75 the same month). They're JW's so it was no big deal to them.
JW's don't want "normal" -- that's for the future life sometime later. This life doesn't really count. It's sad.
I wish you could celebrate with her today, and I wish I could have celebrated with my folks too.
