Does anyone know anything about this group? They sound similar to the witnesses.

They are probably the "old guard" Bible Students that remained steadfast after Ruthlessford organized the heirarchy.

Mum is correct. When Chuck died on Halloween 1916, there was no such thing as a religion known as "Jehovah's Witnesses" - the followers of Pastor Russell were simply "Bible Students." Then Judge Joe Hover took the reins of the organization and shaped it into an image of his liking, christening it "Jehovah's Witnesses" in 1931. By that time many of those who preferred the teachings of CTR had left, and there were several factions, each emphasising a different part of the imaginary elephant's anatomy.

Some of these organizations exist today, and their combined total worldwide membership is probably less than 10,000. Why so small? Because they aren't salesmen for a book publishing company, primarily. Also because they believe Matthew 24:14 was fulfilled some time ago, and that "true" Christians only have to await the hour of His arrival.
