Writer Grace Paley passed away a couple of days ago, and Terri Gross is doing a tribute to her on today's Fresh Air program on NPR.
It brings back a couple of memories. I met Grace at a writer's conference up at Dartmouth College a few years ago, and she and I and another woman went out to eat and walk and talk afterward, and then a year or two after that I met her again at a reading here in the town where my office is.
She was quite a remarkable woman and an amazing writer, who had a long and eventful life.
I'll find and post a little more information on Grace for those not familiar with her writing or life.
In the meantime I just wanted to mention her passing, and raise a salute to one of the great writers of her generation.
