This is indeed great news. I have a number of friends that have Hep-C as a consequence of the I-V drug use in their past. This would be a great thing for them.
Thanks for keeping us up-to-date with new medical avances, Metatron!
If jeehober keeps dawdling, there won't be anything left for him to do in The New World!
I watched my only brother die of Hep-C. He was but 46. That was four years back and I still cry.
Sometimes our foolish youth takes our life. Thanx for posting - but I could not bear to read it.
Jeff
I went on this drug combo treatment for 6 months in 1998 but it did not work for me. My viral count actually increased during treatment so I stopped. I also remember that when I agreed to start the treatment my doc told me it only worked in 47% of patients. This article is claiming 99% success rate. That's awesome. This must be a new and improved interferon/combo.
The side effects were awful, but I was still able to work 4 days a week. Mostly flu like symptoms but I also lost my hair in patches. It grew back thick and very curly. I injected on Friday nights and by Tuesday I was well enough to go to work. By Friday I was fine but the cycle started all over again after my Friday night injection. Urgh! Also, the drugs cost about $2600/month back then. I wonder what the cost is now.
I want to thank you for posting this medical update. I will look into it further to see if it might be something that I can try again.
AK Jeff, I am sorry about your brother.

As an old friend of mine once said "These drugs should be given to terrorists" The side effects of these drugs are horrible. I'll just keep my Hep C. I have been taken MILK THISTLE for 35 years and it keeps my numbers low!!!! It works (Oh, and don't drink a lot of Alcohol)
My step father had Hep C.. when through a yr of chemo type treatment.. his life was hell but he pretty much has been in remission now for a couple of yrs..
