I was just watching the daily show and they did a regular feature of theirs called this week in god ( for reference http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbyrPY-SiuU). Any way a thought hit me(I dont in any way condone making light of these victims suffering) What if the daily show did a feature in this segment where they talk about the settlement and coverup, compared against the special KM tract the WT$ destributed last year. They can highlight the part in the tract where they speak against the catholic church and there Law suit issues.

Just a thought what do you think?

    I think it's worth a try.

What can it really hurt? Might get some people thinking.

Or you could get online and advertise the settlements like I did (and almost forgot about the thread til a few minutes ago) and consequently discover that allegations of sex abuse in one of your own local halls (!) was made on a public forum.

Feel free to read and comment here, disregarding the idiots who claim the victims were precocious little tarts who deserved or encouraged the abuse. See what "tarheels" had to say to the thread:

I am totally floored, as I said I almost forgot. Such claims might be important to lawyers and to other victims; it's certainly the first time I've heard any allegations - public or private - regarding sex abuse in any of the local halls. I sent an email and thread addy to silentlambs. Gosh! I hope the link works. I'm completely floored.

That would be a BEAUTIFUL segment, I can see them jumping all over this. Please do pass it to them!

I love the concept of "this week in god" as a parody; this week in jehovah would be even more scathing.

As much as I like the Daily Show, I can't see them doing a piece about this news. The interest is too narrow, and for one, it's not all that funny to begin with. Besides, with a gag order on the plaintiffs, it's not like they have much to report about it in the first place.

    Oh but they doooooo!!!

Jon Stewart: "The Watchtower Society, the legal entity for the religious group known as Jehovah's Witnesses, has settled 16 cases out of court with former members who allegedly were sexually abused as children by church representatives. At the time, their families were advised against taking their complaints to the authorities, under threat of being excommunicated from the group for Bringing Reproach on Jehovahâ„¢. The amounts of the settlements are undisclosed due to a gag order insisted upon by the Watchtower Society. This is the same Watchtower Society that has taken matters of Free Speech and Religious Freedom to the Supreme Court. (long pause while Jon raises an eyebrow and has a perturbed look on his face) Apparently, they take the concept of Free Speech very seriously when it comes to themselves, but not for anybody else."
