The JWs don't believe what he wrote except perhaps 10% of it so how can they call him an anointed one, when in addition he was deeply involve occultic practices such as pyramidology.

I don't have a corrected edition, but the 1988 version has "anointed Christians" and "they." So, apparently it was talking about those who became known as Bible Students (which includes Russell).

it is the stance that there have been annointed throughout history..
so in theory there could have been annointed in an isolated area..

CT Russell was never "anointed." Had he been, he would have never attempted to put a date on our Lord's return, for our Lord himself said that even he didn't know the date and hour.
Mrs. Maria Russell was our sister in Christ. Once she started pointing out to Mr. Russell and his "partners" their error in exploiting what she was sharing with them from the Spirit... they removed her from the Corporation... and then from their "congregation."
