funny you should bring up Jimmy Hendrix. My library carries so many DVDs of old classic shows---The Best of the Johnny Carson Shows, etc.

I got a DVD of The Dick Cavett Show 1969 appearance of Jimmy Hendrix. He appeared on Dick Cavett three times. He had just performed at Woodstock and afterwards collapsed from exhaustion.

He appeared tired and somewhat dazed from a lack of sleep, but very sober and thoughtful. Dick Cavett was respectful and asked him serious questions and Hendrix's answers showed to the world what a deep thinker he was.

I was flooded by many emotions watching this very young Hendrix talk to Cavett and the audience about peace(keeping in mind the year and that blacks had just received the vote about five years earlier and so much was going on racially in our country, Vietnam etc.)

And then he played his guitar for the audience. Wow!!! They also played a tape of his Star Spangled Banner performance at Woodstock which brought down upon him tons of mixed criticism from all over America at the time. "I thought it was beautiful" he told Cavett.

Hindsight is 20/20 they say.

Viewing the video, I felt alot of love and compassion and respect for the young Jimmy Hendrix.
