The book stated that religions want to be the "Parent"........its followers are the "children"....which means the rules are NOT to be questioned by the "children"
You are an "Adult" when you ask the above questons.
I think the question why is the most important because it deals with abstract thinking. Who, where, when, etc.all deal with the details. Why gets down to the substance of a matter.
I remember at one of the book studies there was a discussion about dates. Someone said something about "Christendom" & their false dates. I raised my hand and said "Are we not the religion that bases everything on dates like 1914? The whole study group turned on me. One brother said, "who do you think you are? You must have an ego problem!" The question/statement about 1914 was swept under the door. I went a couple more times to the book study & then stopped never to return.
Rooster - good for you and your ego though or you would still be there! I think you make a good point. What keeps a lot of people in the Watchtower is the security of never having to grow up and think for themselves. I have met a lot of x-dubs online who have a lot of trouble dealing with the fact that they no longer have some who has all the answers to turn to.
