I haven't spoken to my mil in a week and took a sunday off for myself and went to San Antonio. Saw the Alamo and had a late lunch at Joes Crab Shack Yuck!. I had a good time and walked on the river walk and it was beautiful.

I am a bit tired but mentally refreshed I am told that I am being selfish and uncaring. I have a few missed calls on my phone from her and I will not return the calls. Is this selfish or nasty?

I really don't want to see them anymore at all but I need to keep the peace.

    Need some advice here ya'll

    thanks

I am glad you enjoyed your day in San Antonio. Have you ever been on the Riverwalk during December when everything is decorated with Christmas lights? The first time I was there was the first part of December and they had just turned on the lights. What a fantasy land. I loved it. (I went back again during the spring and it just wasn't the same without the lights.)

No, I personally do not think you are being selfish or uncaring. From what you have said in the past it sounds like your mil's family has really been taking advantage of you. Take a few weeks for yourself.

If you like to cook, maybe after a while you might want to start cooking a meal once a month or once every other month for them. Whatever is comfortable for you. Maybe schedule something ahead so they can look forward to it - like Sunday April 15 and then Sunday May 27.

It's fun cooking for a crowd when you want to do it. When people come to expect it - and demand it - it is no longer a pleasure.

    Take care of yourself.

You need your breaks. You deserve your breaks. And, really...how else are you going to keep up with all the insanity around you--??

Hmmm... You were in San Antonio - on a Sunday. As anyone knows... San Antonio ain't that jiving of a place to be on a Sunday... unless you're goin to church.

You were downtown and didn't go up the elevator of the Tower Life Building? (No, not the same thing as the Hemisfair Tower.) The Tower Life Building was built in the 1920's... and about 30 floors. Was the tallest building in San Antonio for a while. The elevator is an old one... and im my opinion rocks!!! (Literally...) I like to press the upper floor button, and then ride as the elevator whooshes! up to the top of the building. Going down can be as much fun. Just ignore the odd looks the security guard gives ya - have fun.

Oh. You meant advice on your mil. *shrug* sorry. I say do what you want - and have fun. Life is to short to be too serious.

    Regards,

Jim TX <--- resident of San Antonio

I don't know what your story is with the mother in law as I haven't followed it, I suppose she is a JW that is criticising you for not being a good and obedient dubby. In that case you did well not to get in touch with her since their view of non obedient dubs or ex dubs is a very negative one.

Hambeak, why do they pester you on your cell? And I don't understand why Jake doesn't tell them to piss off? Glad you found the daytrip refreshing. You set some limits with them. Would you be happier living by yourself, and free? Just a thought. I could've been happy living alone in my little house with my cats and my privacy, but hubby talked me into getting married. That's OK, too, I guess. Take care!
