  Rabbis attempt to resume animal sacrifices on the Temple Mount

  The present-day Sanhedrin Court along with a group of extremist rabbis announced their plans on Wednesday to resume ancient Temple practices of animal sacrifices on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, despite religious bans by Moslems and Jews.

  The court purchased herds of sheep for ritual sacrifice, which they have planned for the eve of Passover, depending on the situation at the controversial religious site.

  “Regrettably, there are many extremist Israeli groups who want to carry out their plans,” said Jerusalem's senior Islamic cleric, Mohammed Hussein. “Let them say what they want, Al Aksa is a Moslem mosque.”

  The 71 members of the Sanhedrin have all the required elements necessary for Temple sacrifice, including the ritual altar, and said they want to begin sacrificing animals again, despite the absence of the Temple. Professor Hillel Weiss, a member of the Sanhedrin, said it is an important step to show that it’s not only talk.

  Rabbi Dov Stein, secretary of the new Sanhedrin Court, believes Temple sacrifices won’t happen any time soon.

  “We want to do the sacrifice, but we have political problems,” Stein said. “We hope there will come a time when the government will agree. We will push for that to happen.”

  Not all religious Jews are in favor of the sacrifices however.

  “Animal sacrifice, as a mode of religious worship, stopped for Jews, Christians and Moslems,” said Rabbi Daniel Hartman of the Shalom Hartman Institute in Jerusalem. “Moving back in that direction is not progress.”

  If this happens, the Muslims and PETA are going to freak the f out. Therefore,..I don't see Israel's rabbis making this happen on their own. Yet I do think it will happen, eventually,...when a man of (false) peace will establish peace between Israel and Palestine. He will allow the sacrifices to resume,...that is, until he breaks his own covenant with the Jews as told in Dan. 9:27:

  "Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week But in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate, even until the consummation, which is determined, is poured out on the desolate."

  Anyways, that's my opinion.

  The orthodox branch of Judaism has forever held that one day they will rebuild the temple for a third time and resume sacrifices adn biblical Judaism (thier definition of it, that is).

  They claim to have the red heifer. It may have already been offered in order to cleanse Yisroel of its sins.

  Yes, it would be very volatile to do at this time, with the whole Al-Aqsa thing.

  right,...it would probably cause mass rioting.

  I mean, look at when Ariel Sharon went up to the temple mount,...that sparked the intafada of, what was it like, two years or so.

  I have heard that the ortho Jews had been looking for the red heifer but i didn't know that they now claim that they have it. Do you have anymore info on this? Do they have prospective red heifers, not yet three years of age and not yet deemed perfect specimens, or have they already found the flawless heifer, slaughtered it, and now hold the ashes?

  But they don't know who the Levites are, right?

  Didn't God "blow a gasket" when mere non-Levite King Saul offered a sacrifice? So what makes them think they can get away with it this time?

  Or is it a Russian Roulette type of thing? Keep trying different rabbis until one doesn't get zapped with lightning, in which case they will know he must be a Levite?

  Some claim that they already found and offered the red heiffer and her "services" have been secretly rendered. I don't know. And it's not likely to be commonly shared if it has been done. It would have to be three years of age and "perfect". This is a sacrifice that even the rabbis over the centuries do not completely understand the meaning of so I certainly cannot comment on why it is done (yes, yes, the surface reason is "cleansing") But there are always at least 4 layers to everything Torah and Mitzvot related.

  This is yet more crap that the WTBTS spouted (about not knowing the lineages anymore).

  Trust me, the Jews keep track of lineages and they know very well which tribes they belong to. Unless you one of the 10 losts, of that particular generation...you know who you are and who your father is and who his father was and so on...teh same even moreso for matrilineal lineages.

  So no problem on finding Levites and Kohanim (the very highest of the priests)

  And in the words of Forrest Gump: That's all I have to say about that.

  As far as the priests go, aren't the Jews with the last name Cohen and Levison the ones with a priestly heritage?

  The plan for construction of a Third Temple or Tabernacle is well underway. But, is the location called the Temple Mount in reality the actual location of the older temples?
