Here's what the Bible says ...

    Psalms 40:1

    - Happy is anyone acting with consideration toward the lowly one; In the day of calamity Jehovah will provide escape for him.

Here's what the Branch Organization Manual says ...

    CHAPTER 9/ PAGE 78

    17. REFUSAL OF BLOOD TRANSFUSIONS: If our brothers' obedience to abstain form blood is being ignored by healthcare providers with or without court authority, legal action may be warranted. If you recommend such, provide us with a complete overvies of the case. Set forth what you hope to accomplish. we are not inclined to get involved if winning will not help the brotherhood in general.

    18. PERSONAL DECISIONS: Individuals in the congregations may ask the opinion of the Legal Department or Desk on what to do in matters involving citizenship, neutrality, marriage, divorce, employment, etc. However, if the person does not know what to do from his own knowledge of the Bible, it is wiser not to take the responsibility from him by telling him what to do. The Legal Department or Desk should limit its work to legal issues affecting the branch's interests rather than personal requests for legal advice or assistance.

Those who call it "the borg" hit the nail on the head. Not what's good for the individual "sheep", but what's good for the ORGANIZATION. And it is good for the ORGANIZATION to relentlesly avoid any court cases that would show how inconsistent they have been on the subject of Blood.

Dat would be vewy, vewy BAD!

A WATCHMAN should be specially appreciated in time of danger. His services by day and night, if appreciated and acted upon, result in protection and life for those over whom he acts as watchman. The people of Christendom have been in great danger ever since the "time of the end" began with the expiration of the "times of the Gentiles" ("the appointed times of the nations") in early autumn of the year 1914 C.E. This being in danger has been not just because the first world war was then raging and gaining momentum, to introduce an "age of violence" that has continued on down to this day. There is a danger also for a more serious reason, as we shall see.

    2

Christendom set up first the League of Nations, and in 1945 the United Nations, as her watchman in behalf of world peace and security, but these have not worked. Rather, the spiritual interests of the people of Christendom have been endangered, the danger in this respect being particularly great because the spiritual interests have to do with one’s eternal life or one’s eternal death. The fact that the clergy did not stick to Christian principles so as to prevent World War I proved that, collectively, they were no reliable spiritual watchman.
