Much to consider here. Notice that the Society have stated nine purposes for which they wish to collect data. If you are still a nominal JW that is information they are holding about you!

    This is a serious worry.

Way back in the '70's Bethel heads bragged that "the Society knows more about you than you know about yourself". With modern data mining the WBTS could keep quite a dosier on you, me and anyone else stuck in the web.

The good news is that under the same Data Protection Act, you can request copies of all information the Watchtower is holding about you.

Trading / Sharing in Personal Information
    Purpose Description:

The sale, hire or exchange of personal information.

I don't know what personal information they have but I am pretty certain that under the same Data protection Act, they have to obtain the individual's permission before selling on personal details.

funkyderek - I wonder how much they'd charge in 'administration fees' for someone to get their info?

Also I work in a field where we have to collect data, and we are legally now only entitled to hold it for 2 years without their permission, so every two years we must ask their permission to carry on using it.. Also the electoral roll which used to be available for anybody to view is now only available in certain places and people who wish not to have their details on it can request that.

The laws in the Uk have seriously tightened up, I think the WT is going to have to be careful too.
