Every last one of them has compromised their personal integrity

  I spoke with an elderly JW this week. Lovely woman. Kind and generous.

  It got me thinking; they are'nt all bad?

  Some witnesses are ok. Of course they are. Many are really, really lovely people.

  Yet, when I think about it deeply, I come to this conclusion.

  Each JW has compromised their personal integrity. They have not been true to themselves.

  Each time they hear about a disfellowshipping and know that it was unjustly dealt with. Each time they view the good people of this world as deserving of death. Each time they succumb to a bullying elder. Each time that they ignore another human being in the street. Even worse, each time that they blindly back some evil elders in a badly dealt with case of child abuse. The list goes on.................

  But every time that Jehovah's Witnesses ignore their natural inclinations, in favour of such obviously stupid, cruel, unloving doctrine, they compromised their own personal integrity.

  No matter who they are, where they are, or why they do it - SHAME ON EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM!

  Well said Jambon!

  Each time they view the good people of this world as deserving of death.

  And JWs whilst they are supposed to be busy cultivating humility never have a chance while they are taught to cherish their superiorty complex almost as much as they are to nurture their persecution complexes. No wonder I left confused!

  Without doubt, a number of the Witnesses know the organization's teachings are cruel and unloving, and they even are thrilled to show hatred.

  Others though are new, and swept up in the initial excitement and love-bombing. Yet others were born in, baptized young, still not fully adult and so are confined in the organization, for now.

  Others are dominated by fear of displeasing the leadership (and "Jehovah", by extension), and fear that they will die at Armageddon if they don't keep going on the Watchtower treadmill. They are not cruel people, and truly believe they must stay in the organization to 'walk in their integrity'.

  If any questioning JW's are lurking, hopefully they wouldn't be put off by this thread's title. What I would say is that it is truly possible to live a life of personal integrity without trusting in an organization of men to tell you how to do so. Remember the Bible proverb, "Do not put your trust in earthling man, to whom NO salvation belongs". That means we cannot fully trust any organization to save us!

  That's all part of being in a cult tho. The group think mentality , organized dicipline and punishment .These people will turn on you over dissent even . There's only one right answer to every question and the WTBTS has already given you it , don't dare to be different. I think they even DA over what you wear to the meetings . GEEZE why not just issue uniforms so everybody showing up can go through an inspection ? The world will only think badly of you if you don't wear a suit and tie. unbelieveable.

  This kind of integrity is primary, in most cases. An org, a deity or a country should come second.

  So basically shame on all of us as well because at one time or other we did that same thing. Yea we quit but how long did it take us and what was the catalyst?

  It's easy in retrospect to say "shame on you" but try putting yourself back into that way of life again. It's not easy to leave and it's not easy once you have left so far be it from me anyway to cry shame on someone else when I have no idea of what their life or circumstance is.

  For the record I'm not a JW apologist, I just don't like broad brush condemation.

  edited to add I didn't see narkissos post before I posted...didn't mean to repeat his thought in my first paragraph.

  I don't thin that they are all happy that the earth's population will die at Jehoobies hand- lots of the JWs I knew truly wanted to have people come "to an accurate knowledge of Jehovah" to save them. (yes, a barfy sentiment)
  
  anyway, lots of JWs have good intentions and still believe they are serving a god of love.

  The problem is they don't view personal integrity as that important. They view the integrity of the organization and their obedience to it as paramount.
