Gary, I looked at that thread and I'm a bit puzzled. It was begun Dec. 11, 2006. How far in advance does the Watchtower magazine run? We're not even in February 2007 yet. Thanks.

Hi Kenneson,
Like a lot of other secular business corporations's the Watch Tower Publishing Corporation ends it's business year in mid year. The service year runs from September 1st through August 31st.
I'm not sure how far in advance the Watchtower magazine is printed, but I've heard it's in the area of 3 months. Others may know for sure.
This is a HUGE printing and publishing corporation and it's wheels are running slower and slower. The distribution in the United States is different than it was. Now I understand the Society hauls loads of their mass produced literature in corporation owned trucks and delivered to corporation owned locations such as assembly halls, where the literature orders are held awaiting pickup by volunteer couriers.
I understand those couriers may make one run a month from say, my location in Sioux Falls, SD to Omaha, Nebraska to pick up orders at a location managed by the printing corporation. The courier may drop off the order for Sioux City on his way through Sioux City on his way back to Sioux Falls.
Or alternately the volunteer workers in Sioux City may make their own pick up in Kansas City or Omaha, or Des Moines, and warehouse the boxed orders in Sioux City awaiting for the workers from Sioux Falls to pick up the shipment. The workers are all unpaid volunteers and the last leg deliveries are made in private vehicles according to my understanding.
This method has eliminated the mailed subscription service as well as reduced the common carrier or secular parcel delivery method previously used. Savings realized have been channeled into legal defence accounts, aggressive building programs, and creature needs and comforts for the group leaders.
Members (and the indifferent public) are (apparently) happy to receive months old literature as new material because the Society claims to be directed by ghosts. The other rather compelling reason the members are happy with the archived material, is there is no complaint department and no complaints are heard. Members who might try to complain are invited to a trial and some are removed for approved association and shunned. -

Gary-
Thanks for the update on the WTS distribution channels. You state "because the Society claims to be directed by ghosts" - they are, bad ghosts; these are the very same ghosts who invent the yearly statistics, the ghosts who write the articles, and the ghosts who make appointments in Congos. Casper, the friendly ghost, chose a rock band instead of a berth at Bethel.

Hi lawrence,
I'm not sure which ghosts the publishing corporation refers to exactly. The baptism vows refer to the "ghost direction" practice, so all Witnesses know and agree (in appearance) with the practice of channeling. I don't believe the Casper ghost is the ghost they refer to, but it might be. I did read that the ghosts of the dead printing corporation presidents were channeling with the current group leaders.
I hope you are well and having a good January. -

Ah yes, the sound of gears grinding. The only sweeter sound is when that grind comes to a halt!
Good day gentlemen.
