    Watchtower Losses

Over the years of 1949 to 1996 for every 5 persons who were baptized by Watchtower representatives 1 ended up inactive.

Over the past 10 years (1997 to 2006) for every 3 persons who were baptized by Watchtower representatives 1 ended up inactive.

Compared to the years 1949 through 1996, in the past 10 years Watchtower losses have increased from 20 percent to 34 percent.

In raw numbers, over the past 10 years, of 2,850,203 individuals baptized 956,941 became inactive.

Of every 3 individuals submitting to Watchtower baptism 2 remain and 1 becomes inactive.

Interesting! Thanks! It looks to me like they've had a net annual growth of 5.58% every year for the last 75 years.

In my experience in the 1950's and 60's the group's focus and efforts were directed almost exclusively on creating growth. Now the focus is on managing and controlling those previously recruited.

Based on the sad parents articles of the last year, the Society has obviously accepted they can't stop the exiting generation, and instead they are focusing on training the Witness parents how to shun and snub their adult children. These "shun your adult children" articles are a concession to defeat. It's very telling.

The current anal approach to religion won't result in much real growth. They don't seem to realize that their walls built to keep people in, are also keeping people out.

Let's hope this encouraging trend continues.
