Well, the Vietnamese came by with the critical tract last night...

About 7:00 PM, (dark already here), two more (different) Vietnamese JW ladies came around. Dog barked when they closed their car door. They drove up in a late model black Volvo Station Wagon - not up into my circle drive, but pulled up directly in front of my house out in the street. I could still see them through the trees.

So, they hit the doorbell...I was actually expecting some kind of exit-poll campaign activity, but no - its the JW. Old lady and young girl this time. They are shocked when a 6' tall Anglo-Aryan looking guy opens the door...stammering around, uh - we thought this was a Vietnamese house...

I told them, kindly, look - the lady you are looking for is not home yet. The old lady says, uh, well, can I leave her a tract? It is very important. Still have not properly identified who they are representing, but I pretty well know what the cards are by now.

I look the old lady square in the eye, smile, and say - still very quietly and kindly - "You don't know who I am, do you". She kind of nods uh, no-

So I tell her, again, quietly and kindly: "My name is James Woods. I am an ex-Witness. I left your organization because you were guilty of false prophecy in 1975. I am very sorry for you to have wasted your time here."

She just kind of murmered "Oh, I see.." and they retreated to the Volvo. No attempt to confirm or deny, no further interest in leaving the tract, no nothing.

I later thought that maybe it would have been interesting to take the tract, but of course that would just have encouraged them to come back and bug us again...

Sure, they would never stay around to confirm or deny. When I was active I don't think I could handle somebody like you. I remember more than once backing away from born agains but I never met an ex-JW.

You are the embarrassment they are afraid of the most: a living witness to one of their failed prophecies.

I did not see the tract; the had it kind of hidden behind a Watchtower held backwards...the Watchtower was english enough that I recognized it.

I did not want to have them back anymore.

Can't blame you there but you coulda taken one for the team there just so we can see the deception in what they publish there .

Previous poster has a point being made: - should I have "Taken one (tract) for the team"? That is for the likes of Rumsfield. Haaaaar...

Well, you have to understand where I was coming from (Oklahoma City!). Have you ever had the privilege of being in a long term relationship with a well-educated Oriental (Zen Bhuddist) lady? Mai would have had them come back again and again, served tea, and let them do a "bible study" for about seven months running just to be polite. When she found out, she seemed to be happy that I was a nice southern gentleman about the whole thing. She still has only a vague idea of why I hold such contempt for "church ladies of another religion".

I did not tell her about this little visit until last night. Her primary concern was for the two ladies - "are you SURE you were polite to them? - they probably are having a hard time in this country...etc.etc.".

I think that this is in fact the essence of why I am so disgusted with the JWs targeting people who can barely speak the English language. (of course this does not mean Mai - she is a lead scientist working for the EPA on environmental issues...). But, they did not know that. They were hoping for a helpless boat person whom they could take advantage of. They are exploiting desperate and good people for their organization's nefarious & evil purposes.

And yes, it is not lost on me that the two ladies in the Volvo were expoited themselves and did not know any better.

Ironic, is it not, that these two victims probably know as little about Saigon 1975 (and the escape from the embassy in the US Marine choppers, of which Mai was one of the young girls) as they know about Brooklyn 1975, the false prophecy, and the witchhunt to cover it up.
