I had an interesting tme in class watching a video on dissociative identity disorder (DID - it used to be referred to as multiple personality disorder MPD). The woman's entire demeanor changed including how she spoke, how she carried herself, even her handwriting. I could see how JWs would easily have said that the woman was possessed by demons. It was indeed very frightening to watch. It just emphasized for me how religion has always tried to explain the unexplainable.

The subject of invocation (as opposed to evocation) is a common enough topic amongst occultists. Effectively a person may, by purposely ritually taking on the known characteristics of an entity can basically force a, hopefully, temporary DID, for various purposes.
The human mind is much more malleable than most of us are very comfortable with.
