So i have been thinking and wondering, as exwitnesses how does this whole possibilty of war scare you.?. we were taught for so long that things like this lead to the GT. i thnk being a witness for so long makes this more scary then it really is.. i my self will probably go hide the day the world cries peace and security.. and is that something that my happen if they get all of the terriost? or am i just scared from being in the truth and that being drilled in my head??

    NoLongerAJW:

How long have you been out of the org?

I realize you may be quite frightened right now, but just stop yourself and try to think rationally...when you start to see any kind of world events that trigger thoughts about the GT, say to yourself (And Believe it!) that this is only what you have been programmed to think. Your fears are the result of sick emotional triggers that were planted into your mind by the WTBS to keep you in line.

Don't worry, these fears will lessen and maybe disappear over time...just stick to your guns that you are doing the right thing for yourself and for your mental/emotional health. Trust me, the JWs who are "in" right now are a hell of a lot more scared than those who are "out." Why? Because they have a direct line to all the fear and guilt BS that they are fed three+ times a week by the WT!
Try to stay as connected as possible to any nonJW family or friends you have right now to keep your viewpoint as balanced as possible. The more connections you make, the easier it will get.

NolongeraJw: I think much of what you are afraid of is from JW upbringing. Just because the US. is involved with major conflict, dosen't mean the end is near. Third world countries have been battling for years. It took me a while to rid myself of these men induced fears and they still haunt me and I have been out for 6 years.
You are not alone in being shook up over the recent tradgedy's as we all are. You will find a number of opinions on this board so don't get uptight when you read them. Be patient. Talk to ya later......off to work. P.S.

Nice to have you with us!

    NolongeraJw,

I went through this back in the 70's. The expectation around '75 was palpable, UK dubs had said "Give us a year either way".

I came out in '72 - gutsy, eh? Anyway, one day in early April '76, the sun shone very brightly and pushed the temperature right up into the 80's. Unbelievable for that time of year. Now you will probably know that UK weather is decidedly moist, so you can imagine how people were feeling six months later when no rain at all fell from that day in April. The landscape was just brown, the air smokey from all the spontaneous combustion of woodland. It became illegal to wash your car, you could not even use a watering can in the garden unless you were using bath water.

UK dubs were convinced that this was armageddon starting, especially when reports started coming in of vutures being spotted. Ex's like me had a few fear tweaks, but common sense prevailed, and eventually it started to rain.

    Been bloody raining ever since!

    Englishman.

    Stay Alive 'Til '75!
