Just wanted to let you know I had a very heated converstion with my father last night.
He told me about some JW children who <<<<gasp>>>>> are in college on full scholarships.
I kindly asked him to refrain from discussing the subject with me as it was a sore one, but he wouldn't let it go. Therefore, I felt it necessary to speak from the heart and tell him how much I resented hearing about the subject when I couldn't even get either of my parents signatures on scholarship/financial aid/ loan forms.
Therefore, we entered into a very heated but loving discussion re:whether or not the society ever said "Don't go to college."
He finally acknowledged that although the words "Don't go to college" would not appear in print, strong discouragement for 'christians' and 'godly JWs' would be the same thing.
He only admitted that after I also told him the words "Don't go to rated R movies" never appears in print either. He tried to waffle out by saying "I don't WANT to go to most rated R movies!" (Classic JW misdirection, but I held him to the line.)
Anyhow, Tom Tally, because I had thrown away all of my Kult Kollectibles, I was forced to rely on research on Kent's website. I knew it would be there.
And I just wanted to say thank you for all of your hard work, Kent, Norm, Amazing, Max, and anyone else who has complied pages of their own words to discredit them. It makes it so easy when a JW says "we never said that" to go and pull their own words out of their ass.
I will post update tomorrow after he reads the emails, if we're still talking. [8>]
Thank you so much, it means a lot to some of us. You loveable Norwegian asshole, Kent. This doesn't mean I'm not still a she-bear. LOL.
