With all the fanfare of the "divine deliverance at hand" convention, are the dubs still pushing the idea of the UN banning all religion globally? We've seen how powerless the UN was with Iraq and now with the situation in Lebanon. Do they really still believe that the UN will actually do this, or even have the power to suggest it for that matter? Has there been "new light" in this regard? If not, what are they basing their ideas that the end is just around the corner when nothing globally is even remotely shaping up the way it was predicted in the Revelation book?

    *** w96 6/1 p. 18 Flight to Safety Before the "Great Tribulation" ***

At Revelation 17:16, it is foretold that a figurative scarlet-colored wild beast, which has proved to be the United Nations, will turn on harlotlike Babylon the Great and violently destroy her. Using graphic language, it says: "The ten horns that you saw, and the wild beast, these will hate the harlot and will make her devastated and naked, and will eat up her fleshy parts and will completely burn her with fire." What this will mean is awesome to contemplate. It will result in the end of false religion of every kind in all parts of the earth. This will indeed show that the great tribulation has begun.

    19

It is noteworthy that since the United Nations began operations in 1945, atheistic, antireligion elements have been prominent in its membership. At various times all over the world, such radical elements have been instrumental in having religious practices either severely restricted or completely banned. In the past few years, however, there has been a letup in many places in government pressure on religious groups. To some people it may seem that any danger to religion is gone.

    20

The religions of Babylon the Great continue to be a violently disruptive force in the world. News headlines frequently identify warring factions and terrorist groups by naming the religion that they espouse. Riot police and soldiers have had to force their way into temples to stop violence between rival religious factions. Religious bodies have financed political revolution. Religious hatred has frustrated efforts by the United Nations to maintain stable relations between ethnic groups. In pursuing the goal of peace and security, elements within the United Nations would like to see the elimination of any religious influence that stands in their way.

    21

There is also another important factor to consider. Although the militarized horns from within the United Nations will be used to destroy Babylon the Great, that destruction will really be an expression of divine judgment. The execution of judgment will come at God’s appointed time. (Revelation 17:17) What should we do in the meantime? "Get out of her"—get out of Babylon the Great—the Bible answers.—Revelation 18:4.

The destruction of Babylon the Great is graphically described in the book of Revelation, which states: "The ten horns that you saw [the kings ruling in the time of the end], and the wild beast [the United Nations], these will hate the harlot and will make her devastated and naked, and will eat up her fleshy parts and will completely burn her with fire." (Revelation 17:16) Why will the rulers destroy Babylon the Great? Because ‘God puts it into their hearts to carry out his thought.’ (Revelation 17:17) Included among these rulers is the king of the north. What he hears "out of the sunrising" may well refer to this act of Jehovah, when he puts it into the hearts of human leaders to annihilate the great religious harlot.

Yes, the day will come when the anointed remnant and their companions will become mute, not having anything further to convey to Christendom. That will be when "the ten horns" and "the wild beast" make Babylon the Great devastated and naked. (Revelation 17:16)

That is why we can speak of Paradise as being restored. Before that happens, though, the earth must be rid of God-dishonoring false religion. The political elements of this world will take care of this. (Revelation 17:15-18)

    w00 10/15 p. 16 What God’s Kingdom Will Do ***

At the beginning of the great tribulation, something will happen that will be a severe shock to most people on earth: the destruction of all false religion. That will not be a shock to Jehovah’s Witnesses, for they have long anticipated this. (Revelation 17:1, 15-17; 18:1-24) The great tribulation ends at Armageddon when God’s Kingdom crushes the entire Satanic system.—Daniel 2:44; Revelation 16:14, 16.

    *** w99 5/1 p. 17 "Let the Reader Use Discernment" ***

Revelation depicts "a scarlet-colored wild beast" that exists for a time, disappears, and then returns. (Revelation 17:3, 8) This beast is supported by world rulers. Details supplied in the prophecy help us to identify this symbolic beast as a peace organization that came into existence in 1919 as the League of Nations (a "disgusting thing") and that is now the United Nations. Revelation 17:16, 17 shows that God will yet put it into the hearts of certain human rulers who are prominent in this "beast" to desolate the world empire of false religion. That attack marks the outbreak of the great tribulation.

    *** w99 5/1 p. 18 "Let the Reader Use Discernment" ***

We know that desolation awaits false religion. Babylon the Great is "drunk with the blood of the holy ones" and has acted as a queen, but her destruction is certain. The unclean influence she has wielded over the kings of the earth will dramatically change as that relationship turns into one of violent hatred on the part of the ‘ten horns and the wild beast.’ (Revelation 17:6, 16; 18:7, 8) When the "scarlet-colored wild beast" attacks the religious harlot, "the disgusting thing" will be standing in a menacing way in Christendom’s so-called holy place. So desolation will begin on faithless Christendom, which portrays itself as holy.

Jehovah Has an Appointed Time for

    · drawing Gog into an attack on God’s people.—Ezekiel 38:3, 4, 10-12

    · putting it into the hearts of human rulers to destroy Babylon the Great.—Revelation 17:15-17; 19:2

    *** wt chap. 20 p. 182 Keep Close in Mind Jehovah’s Day ***

At the beginning of the great tribulation, the rulers will turn against Babylon the Great, the world empire of false religion, and will annihilate her. (Matthew 24:21; Revelation 17:15, 16)

*** ip-2 chap. 18 pp. 269-270 Jehovah Revives the Spirit of the Lowly Ones ***

Similarly, Christendom’s large inventory of idols will not deliver her in the day of Jehovah’s anger. (Isaiah 2:19-22; 2 Thessalonians 1:6-10) Along with the rest of "Babylon the Great"—the world conglomerate of false religion—Christendom will be annihilated. The symbolic scarlet-colored wild beast and its ten horns "will make [Babylon the Great] devastated and naked, and will eat up her fleshy parts and will completely burn her with fire." (Revelation 17:3, 16, 17) How glad we are to have obeyed the command: "Get out of her, my people, if you do not want to share with her in her sins, and if you do not want to receive part of her plagues"! (Revelation 18:4, 5) May we never return to her or her ways.

    *** ip-1 chap. 5 p. 54 Jehovah Humiliates Self-Exalted Ones ***

During the coming day of Jehovah’s judgment upon Christendom and other segments of the world empire of false religion, what will people do? Faced with deteriorating conditions earth wide, most will likely come to realize that their idols are valueless. In place of these, they may well seek refuge and protection in nonspiritual, earthly organizations, perhaps including the United Nations, the "scarlet-colored wild beast" of Revelation chapter 17. It is "the ten horns" of that symbolic wild beast that will destroy Babylon the Great, the world empire of false religion, of which Christendom is a significant part.—Revelation 17:3, 8-12, 16, 17.

    *** ip-1 chap. 5 p. 56 Jehovah Humiliates Self-Exalted Ones ***

Although the devastating and burning of Babylon the Great may be the direct work of those symbolic ten horns, it is, in fact, the execution of Jehovah’s judgment.

    *** ip-1 chap. 12 p. 153 Do Not Be Afraid of the Assyrian ***

Whom will Jehovah use to discipline rebellious Christendom? We find the answer in the 17th chapter of Revelation. There we are introduced to a harlot, "Babylon the Great," representing all the world’s false religions, including Christendom. The harlot is riding a scarlet-colored wild beast that has seven heads and ten horns. (Revelation 17:3, 5, 7-12) The wild beast represents the United Nations organization. Just as the ancient Assyrian destroyed Samaria, the scarlet-colored wild beast "will hate the harlot and will make her devastated and naked, and will eat up her fleshy parts and will completely burn her with fire." (Revelation 17:16) Thus the modern-day Assyrian (nations associated with the UN) will deal Christendom a mighty blow and will crush her out of existence.

21 Will Jehovah’s faithful Witnesses perish along with Babylon the Great? No. God is not displeased with them. Pure worship will survive. However, the wild beast that destroys Babylon the Great also casts a greedy eye in the direction of Jehovah’s people. In doing so, the beast carries out, not God’s thought, but the thought of someone else. Who? Satan the Devil.

    *** ip-1 chap. 26 p. 345 "No Resident Will Say: ‘I Am Sick’" ***

How does Isaiah’s prophecy apply in our day? The spiritually sick nation of Israel can be compared to unfaithful Christendom. Just as Jehovah used Assyria as a "rod" to punish Israel, so he will use a "rod" to punish Christendom—as well as the rest of the world empire of false religion, "Babylon the Great." (Isaiah 10:5; Revelation 18:2-8) That "rod" will be member nations of the United Nations—an organization pictured in Revelation as a seven-headed, ten-horned, scarlet-colored wild beast.—Revelation 17:3, 15-17.

I think that the watchtower "tower" is crumbling around them. Too many watchtower "prophecies" are failing all at once.

The UN prophecies are going through a "generational" change - though the new scapegoat hasn't been identified.

I think that 'divine knowledge' is on hold not being mentioned much at the current time

You are absolutely right. The Watchtowers prognostication that the UN will turn on all religion soon is absurd and completely untenable. It was Fred Franz's baby I believe and is now an embarrassment. Probably a few on the gb would like to ditch the interpretation but they have hopelessly painted themselves into a corner haha! Old Father time will humble them all, as he does everyone eventually.

I would not be surprised at all if they ´ll drop it all together. See the declaration of 2006. Although it looks like a resolve to remain virgin, the basic idea is: the Gt is near. we are clean. nothing is in there about wild beasts and the like.

It may turn out to come doen to, like some relatives of mine said:If it does not come true, at leat we lived moral lives.

    Cheers
