Do you think an on line community like this has the same value as a real life community or does it fall short of it? Does it give a strong enough sense of belonging for example or a sense of interacting with others instead of being isolated?

On line corresponding is better than being isolated, but it falls way short of a live community. You can't see the other people you're talking to to be able to "feel" their reaction and often times what you write might be taken the wrong way. All of us need human companionship where there is face to face conversation and listening which promotes true understanding.

I think people are more candid online. I think there is great value in being able to open up like that, and get feedback and support from people, perhaps more than from people you know in real life. For those who are still in the JW world, they may have no other outlet and a community like this could literally become a life saver.
