If you write to the society, you'll end probably like the swedish brother Carl Johnsson. He collected facts about the topic 587 or 607 and sent it to Brooklyn. The answer was: We need time to proof that. So far it wasn't really answered by the brothers in NY. Because he couldn't keep it for himself anymore and start talking about it, he was disfellowshiped.
So you can write a letter but don't talk about that with anybody in your meeting.
