  "Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding. And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them. And forth with Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, ( they were about two thousand; ) and were CHOKED IN THE SEA." ( Mark 5:11-13 )

  "For they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, IT SHALL BE STONED, or THRUST THROUGH WITH A DART." ( Hebrews 12:20 )

  "But these, AS NATURAL BRUTE BEASTS, MADE TO BE TAKEN AND DESTROYED, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption." ( 2 Peter 2:12 )

  I thought jews couldn't eat pork. Why were there 2000 of them does it not mean that there was a pork meat industry?

  This event happened in the region of the decapolis which I'm told was inhabited largely by Greeks/non-Jews, hence the pigs.

  Turn the order around and you have a 'bible lesson' - a lesson in jwism even.

  But these, like irrational animals, creatures of instinct, born to be caught and killed, reviling in matters of which they are ignorant

  Biblically, people are often described as a particluar animal, based on their particular behaviour - in this case, animals that are both ignorant and yet see themselves superior regarding religion; but the man who is created in the image of God has dominion over 'beasts'.

  If even a beast touches the mountain, it shall be stoned. When someone who is like an irrational animal, attempts to touch the mountain they will be subject to the hardened hearts of others, and may be wounded.

  Now a great herd of swine was feeding there on the hillside; and they begged him, "Send us to the swine, let us enter them." So he gave them leave. And the unclean spirits came out, and entered the swine; and the herd, numbering about two thousand, rushed down the steep bank into the sea, and were drowned in the sea.

  These particular 'beasts' consider both heaven and earth (are cloven-footed) but the swine don't graciously eat the food put before them and consider it (but does not chew the cud) and hence is also an irrational beast (unclean to you) that instead of contemplation, whines for more food - given the motivation the swine would run straight down and disappear into the sea of man.
