Hi Forscher,
I remember a story about him being published in Reader's Digest.
There is even a whole book written about him, available at Amazon, called "The Radioactive Boy Scout"
The kid tried to build a breeder reactor in the backyard shed in order to get a merit badge. He had gathered enough radioactive materials together in one place to make radiation detectors go off half a block away from his house! When he was found out the government had to use money from the environmental cleanup SuperFund to decontanimate the mess he had made!
It is interesting to read how he managed to gather the materials for his reactor without having a license from the Department of Energy.
