From the WT Media site is this report from Korea:

South Korea's National Human Rights Commission Recommends Alternative Civilian Service
On December 26, 2005, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in Seoul officially recommended

a system of alternative service that would allow for harmonious coexistence of the right of conscientious

objection and military service. Earlier this year, a ruling of Korea's Supreme Court was accompanied

by an opinion in which six of the justices encouraged the instituting of legislation for a system of

    alternative service.

How things have changed! Ahhhh, how glad they must be for "new light"!!
