I must admit I enjoy reading a bit of philosophy now and then. Nothing too heavy going, mainly condensed versions of the great philosophers and lighter, modern stuff. Rousseau and Schopenhauer are my favourites because their prose is so enjoy to read from a literary perspective. Has Anyone read Alain de Botton's books? I love them, especially 'The Consolations of Philosophy' and 'Status Anxiety'. I have yet to read 'How Proust can Change your Life'. Has anyone read his latest book 'The Architecture of Happiness'? Can you recommend it? Sorry about the lack of paragraphing in this thread....it seems this website doesn't support Mozilla Firefox very well.

'The Consolations of Philosophy' is an easy to read introduction to philosophy with stoies about Socrates, Epicurus, Seneca etc. Very useful if you need consoling, LOL.
