Who did you rather be with in the Field Service?

I never wanted to go in the field service with an elder, even a MS, or any super zealous person who would knock at the front and back door just to make sure there was no one home.

I offered the magazines and that's about it. If a person was curious, I would add more, but I was the take it or leave it type. Hello and goodbye.

I didn't like being with other people's kids, because people thought that they were my kids, and I was dragging them in the field service, when they should be out playing with kids their own age....

I remember going out in the FS with an elder, and he never stopped at noon like the others, he always went 30 minutes further. I was just the opposite and made sure I was home at noon, having my lunch, and letting others eat in peace too.

i used to work with other folks rather than the parents when i could. i didn't like it with elders/ms cos they would ask questions.

One asked me why i didn't call my stepdad dad instead of his name. Needless to say, he got the message lol.

Young single girls. This was like dating without having to pay the freight.

Anyone who'd do two doors, then go eat.

Generally, own my own was best. I didn't mind it, in fact people were nicer if you were on your own. It looks really weird opening the door to two people, one of whom just stands there shuffling. And it is intimidating.

Towards the end though, I would always try to pair up with my husband (now ex-), so I could make him do every door. I couldn't have got away with that with someone else. Thinking about it, door knocking was the only time I actually wanted to be near him at the end!

Right now my wife since she doesnt care about it either, she just wont admit it to me. She's one of those non practicing JW's.. believes in the doctrines but doesn't like to actually live the lifestyle. Funny thing is, if I ever told her how I really felt she'd label me an apostate probably.

The ones that made RVs, on some who were never home, on some rvs who had coffee and cake and never talked about the WT, and then those who went on break after 2 such rvs and stayed till noon and treated me to coffee and cake (was it a bribe?)

As a kid service was excruciating. Old ladies who couldn't control their farting. Elders who acted like they were your father. MSs trying to be your big brother.

But when I got my own car, us younger ones always made our own arrangements. It was great when the brother started making car groups and would ask if anyone had plans already. In fact, most people would plan their groups ahead of time to avoid being put into a group. Then poor old smelly fart sister would get stuck with some poor sod who just walked through the door.

On occassions when I had to get put in a car group, I usually preferred going with whoever had a minivan. While I detest the things in general, they made for an easier day in service. The minivan owner would always try to put 8 people in one, which meant fewer doors per dub in the group. But it got to be such a scourge in one congregation that the CO banned the minivans from service and sent everybody out by fours in cars. Bastard.
