500 posts, what i've learned

  Well folks, this is my big number 500 post. Yeah, i know it's not 10,000 but who's counting? Fist of all, i'd like to put out a list of thank yous to some of my favorite posters.

  Thanks to everybody else I don't have time to mention. I appreciate all of you.

  Here are some of the things I've learned by coming to the board.
  1. Lighten Up.
  Six moths ago I was tense. This WTS stuff was on my mind all of the time, almost every hour. I wasn't getting everything I needed to get done at work, and I started to become obsessed with it. I've enjoyed this board more than anything else than the fact it helped me loosen up and take things not so seriously all the time. For this I am much appreciative
  2. The importance of research and debate
  I can't believe that I've spent the 7 years of my life belonging to somthing where there is no debate and discussion, no independent research. These are some of the most important things and I have come to hold them very dear. This entire expierance has taught me so much about what it means to be free from an opressive ideaology.
  3. Keep up the fight
  So many on this board are going through hard things. We not only have the Watchtower to struggle through, but also EVERYTHING ELSE IN OUR LIVES! How easy it would be for us to say "i quit" or "this is to much for me, i'll just stick with the WTS", we could have kept our lives of ignorance and never have caused ourselves much of the grief and sorrow attached to leaving. But instead, whoever we are, we have all realized the need to quit being limp fish and make a stand for something, whatever that stand is. I'm proud of everyone on this board for what they done, keep up the good work everybody.

  I just hit 500.

  I should start a topic some time.

  This board has been great for me. I am much more comfortable with my ex-jw self. I read a lot of the doctrinal threads but never comment on them simply because that is not something that I want to argue about, I'm over all that(not that I ever really argue anything else).
