  Has anybody read this book? Or know of some other good books along this line? Thanks.

  I purchased it and have tried getting through it, but it's one of those book that pre-supposes knowledge on the subject. I'm a bit lost because I haven't done any prior reading on the development of Judaism.

  Thanks J. It does appear to assume a level of working knowledge from the pages I've seen. It looks interesting enough to give it a read nonetheless.
