Just a heads up, on the profile update page it has a note:
NOTE: You will need to re-verify your email address before it is updated
Sorry it isn't clear but this is referring to any new email address you enter, not the one that is already there. Basically, it's to protect against updating the address to one you don't have access to - if you change the email address you will be sent an email with a link and clicking the link is what will confirm and make the update happen.
And another reminder - you can sign in with your username where it asks for your email in case you can't remember the one you originally registered with - then update your profile!
