I was having lunch with my JW friend this past week and he started talking about not being able to think as clearly as he could in the past. I just wanted to scream out "it's that f-cking WT literature that's numbing your brain," but I kept cool. I told him he needs to exercise his brain, that it's like a muscle - use it or lose it. He also drinks a fair amount. He says he has three or four beers a night (that seems like a lot to me). I suggested that he quit the beer, read more, and get some exercise. I even suggested that he take an accounting class, or something that requires some logic, to exercise his brain a little. We finished the lunch with him telling me "those are some good suggestions." We'll see what happens....
Interesting conversation with JW friend

When I use to have lunch with my JW friend I kept thinking to myself "He views me as a spirit medium does a ghost."
I'm not real and neither is my life or conversation.
It is the illicit thrill of contacting "the other side".
I always thought our conversations were rewarding and that I was making "progress". But, weeks later we'd cover the same topic and it was like WE'D NOT DISCUSSED IT EVER BEFORE. He'd wished it all away into the cornfield. It made no impression whatsoever.
Why?
JW's are in a dream-state consciously.
One doesn't take a dream seriously.

Couldn't of said it better myself! Dubs don't understand the meaning of common sense and logic unless they look it up in a bond volume first.

Sad.
What is wrong is that so many of us believed if we just remain good and obedient little girls and boys God will take care of us and we will live happily ever after!
That false delusion gets harder and harder to believe every day as it butts heads with reality. -

The poor dubs they have to live under very stressful conditions worrying all the time about armageddon coming soon and whether they will survive it or not, in that sense they give a daily struggle to survive and if they fall that's an enormous setback. No wonder why many are on anti depressants.

That was my experience for years ... even when I was still in the organization.

Thanks for the comments, everyone. I suppose I understand that I could be talking to a brick wall, but I have a feeling I'm the only person he can talk about personal issues with.
