On the other hand, there’s God’s Wrath. In the theory favored by those whose idea of the Universe is a small, cramped space consisting primarily of ghosties and ghoulies and long-leggedy beasties and things that go bump in the night, the world ought to be coming to a screeching halt any day now.

1920 CE - Out with the old and in with the new. With the shy-of-immortal Charles Russell gone from the picture, J.F. Rutherford stepped in to take the Witness wheel. Assuming rightly that cult followers are long on trust and short on attention span, J.F. casually tossed out Russell’s timeline and had all the JW publications re-edited. The old 1874 date for the return of invisible Jesus was erased from all the literature and in its place, 1914 was dropped in.

There are tons of doomsday prophs from many groups, ancient, archaic and modern. The dubs win I think for most doomsdays.

    LOL

1984 CE - The JWs again. Pitiful, isn’t it? This time, they didn’t go quite so whole hog about getting the flock to stop everything shy of breathing before the Big Day. So, even though there was disillusionment and some defections, there wasn’t the wild stampede for the exits like there had been after ‘75. As they had so many times before, the leadership did their revisionism dance, re-writing all their literature to remove the offending 1984 deadline and blaming the mess on a lack of comprehension skills by “Satanically mislead” Witnesses.

This a new one for me. I don't remember a 1984 date. Any ideas?
