life in general and decisions about your own life become much easier once you realize that 99.9% of the people around you that are trying to influence you to do or think something, have their own private agendas that they are following. knowing this allows you to dismiss a large amount of input as irrelevant to you and your life and allows you to concentrate on the things that you yourself have found to be true and beneficial for yourself, your happiness and your well being.

This is true. You have to set your own personal boundaries. You don't want to be an isolationist, but others have to earn your trust and hopefully you can have a long friendship. Juni~~~~~~~

Why be paranoid? Don't worry about what others' think.

A lot of people have ulterior motives but I don't think it's 99%, if you think they are trying to subtly manipulate you into something that's unprofitable to you just ignore them.

I would also add that you don't have to be the torch bearer of society's collective conscience anymore, either.
It's not productive to dismiss other's ideas just because they don't mirror your own. After all, you have an agenda too!

The fact that this is noteworthy news reinforces in my mind what a cult the JWs are. We are so immersed in group-think mentality for so long, that the realization that you can, in fact, have a different view than someone else and that's ok, is a new thought!
Isn't it a great feeling?
