stuff for newbies. Maybe a thread like this should have been done a few days ago for us newbies to the holiday.

I just went outside to make sure the porch was ready scans the candles for the little trick-o-treaters and found this:

Then I just found out a couple of hours before I go into work tonight that we can dress up in costume. Ikes! I didn't know and have nothing to wear I'm so bummed! This reminds me of those days in school when everyone was in costume but me cuz I was a dumb old JW kid. Oh the shame, I feel it all over again! boohoo! It's not bad enough I have to miss the trick-o-treaters coming to the door this year cuz I have to work, darn!

Any one else have Halloween blunders out there besides me?

LOL... I like that idea Bikerchic.

A thread (to eventually end up in the best of section naturally...) about How to Celebrate Xmas, Birthdays, Easter & Halloween successfully.

    Hey, that's a great idea!

My own personal problem with Halloween:

When I was a kid in cool, shady Berkeley CA, you could carve a pumpkin a couple of weeks before The Day and it would hold up just fine on your front porch or doorstep.

Now I live in sunny San Leandro CA, just a few miles away, and a jack-o-lantern will only last about three days, tops. Are they breeding different pumpkins now? Is it global warming? New germs? What?

I think that my house was marked by the so-called "worldly" people because of the many years of me not celebrating holidays. The only trick or treater I got was my grandson! I love my grandson and I'm sure glad that he came; but, what am I going to do with this big ol' bowl of candy? I guess I'll have to eat it my d*mn self!

Oh yeah! I set the pumpkins out, but I forgot to leave the porch light on. Oh well!

MsMcDucket: You really are new to this. I guess we really do have to get a how-to list going on holidays. Including a check list.

Halloween == #1 buy pumpkins #2...............#20 Turn on porch light. #21 Open door for trick-or-treaters #22 Give candy to children #23 Act like they scare you, or are the prettiest Cinderella you have ever seen. (By the way, cinderella must have been the going item for little girls this year, I must have had a dozen of them.)

You will get the hang of it, And love the hell out of it!!!!!! HL
