Have you ever wondered, "What could I do to make a difference?" Have you ever felt that the WTBTS is a dangerous cult? Felt helpless to change WTBTS' policies, doctrines, and practices? And, helplessly thought, "What can I do to positively change how dangerous cults behave?" I started doing something by writing to USA representatives and senators about changing USA tax codes to remove tax exemption status of organizations (including the WTBTS) that violate basic civil and human rights of American citizens. Tonight I wrote the information in quotes to the following representatives:
• John Boehner, Speaker of the House
• Eric Cantor, House Republican Majority Leader • Nancy Pelosi, House Democratic Minority Leader
• Steny Hoyer, House Democratic Minority Whip • James Clyburn, House Assistant Democratic Leader
Closing Loopholes in Tax Codes for Dangerous Cults
Honorable Representative or Senator,
I respectfully request that you support closing loopholes in the tax codes that allow some tax-exempt organizations to promote doctrines, policies, and practices that are harmful to Americans. The following changes to the tax code would either raise tax revenue by $100’s of millions or help to eliminate undesirable behaviors by 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organizations.
• Require filing an organizational standard of conduct form with the annual tax return of 501(c)(3) organizations that would state that the organization will not promote activities by its members that are prejudicial, discriminatory; or infringe on basic human or civil rights against non-members, members, and former members.
• Not filing the annual standard of conduct form or not following the provisions of the form would automatically deny or revoke tax-exempt status, prevent the organization from collecting tax-exempt contributions in accordance with section 170, and impose certain excise taxes on the organization. Tax-exempt status would be revoked for 3 or more years.
• Expand restrictions to include lobbying efforts in addition to political activities for 501(c)(3) religious organizations.
The aforementioned changes to the tax code would force the following organizations to change discriminatory practices that infringe on basic human and civil rights:
• Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York Inc. holds a group exemption letter for subordinate organizations
• Scientology Missions International holds a group exemption letter for subordinate organizations
• Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (a.k.a. Unification Church)
• and others.
I have personal knowledge and experience with the doctrines, policies, and practices of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society (WTBTS) of New York Inc and its members that led me to my conclusions, based on the universal themes of organizations, which use thought reform that Steve Hassan describes in his book “Combatting Cult Mind Control’. Please investigate upcoming lawsuits charging the WTBTS with failing to protect children from pedophiles and violating human rights of former members. A hearing is scheduled in the lawsuit of Mr Steven Unthank vs Christian Congregation Of Jehovah's Witnesses (WBTS) in the Latrobe Valley Magistrates' Court of Victoria in Gippsland, Australia on 13 Sept 2011 at 09:30 AM (https://dailylists.magistratesvic.com.au/browse-court-lists/court-itinery-list.aspx?id=97&type=Criminal&date=13/09/2011) that alleges the WTBTS violated Victoria’s child protection laws (http://jwnewsnetwork.wordpress.com/2011/07/26/press-release/). Jacques Lejeune alleges that the "Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses" violated his human rights and will be heard in a Mons court (in Belgium) on October 18, 2011.
