Witnesses at the door Sunday

I finally got JWs at the door Sunday. I ran into Mormons 3 times last month and was wondering why JWs weren't around anymore.

At one point when she was talking about the preaching work, I told her about that. I saw Mormons 3 times last month, 4 in the past couple of years, but I hadn't seen one of them in about 3 years and I'm home most Saturday and Sunday mornings. One of them said she knocked on my very door 5 months ago. I suggested she ring the doorbell.

So get this, she tells me she doesn't ring the doorbell because she doesn't want to wake anybody. If they hear her knock, so be it. So that must be it. I happened to be in the living room where I could hear the gentle rapping on my front door. The other times I was further away.

As opposed to other JWs who came here, this time I openly said I didn't believe the Bible. In the past, when they first knocked on my door here, I did, but not anymore. IF there is a god, the bible isn't his book.

One point started to get the the point of does god cause cruelty. I pointed out things like how the Israelites destroyed their enemies, killing even the children. She implied there were always warnings and if these other nations didn't do what god had in mind, they got destroyed. I asked, even the children? A baby who doesn't even know what's going on, much less is able to do anything about what god says, gets killed because he deserved it? And what of the livestock?

Threw other arguments at them. Still they pushed for a bible study. With somebody who doesn't believe the bible? So they were going to send guys back. I told them sure, but first they'd have to prove the bible was from God. So far I have like a 20 page document of silly stuff and contradictions.

    Yes.

You see, the god of the Bible is very sensitive. When a baby or a chicken or lamb doesn't do what he demands, execution is the only reasonable solution. Babies should be able to fully comprehend the 613 mandates of the Mosaic Law- if they don't, well...tough luck for them I guess. The same goes for farm animals.

The reasonableness of the Almighty is certainly underwhelming.

Ironically, one of the abominations for which god ordered the Israelites to exterminate the non-Israelite nations was sometimes child sacrifice.

God was so offended that those pagans were murdering their children that he had to do something about it.

    His solution? Murder their children!

I guess it's subjectively immoral- depending on who's doing the murdering.
