I just received this in typical JW email forward fashion from a family member.

    Subject: Year Field Service Report

This morning at morning worship, they gave some figures from the 2012 Service Year. Please note those that were announced.

    Average Publishers – 7,538,994 2% increase

    Peak Publishers – 7,782,346

    Baptized – 268,777 2.2% increase

    Hours – 1,748,697,447 2.4% increase

    Regular Pioneers - 921,292 6.2% increase

Bible Studies – 8,759,988 This is 260,000 more than last year.

2012 was another good year in the field.

Seems that they see the increase barely keeping up with the birth rate to be good? I don't get it.

Also it's interesting there's nothing about memorial partakers? Maybe because it was just the service year report.

    thx, CO,,

well, about avg pubs; increase actually 1.9%;but last year their claim was 2.4% increase; so increase% is definitely less.

also, 'peak' pubs increase then is 1.6%,,last year their claim peak was 2.1%,,so actually increase % is less.

also, to correct their reg. pio. % increase is 2.8%, not 6.2%. (last years avg pio was 895,844).

It will be interesting to get the U.S. figures and individual countries in the next month.

    Again, thanks for this info.

To be honest, I would never take their figures as they are given.

I read in another thread how the "increase" is always brought up by JW as proof that they are the true religion.

Well, beside the idiocy of that statement which proves nothing, I only believe ( and this is valid for any company/organization not only the WTBS) reports that are either independently carried out i.e. not by the organization itself, or have been legally verified by someone outside the org. like when you get the public accounts for a company.

As the WTBS are publishing the reports themselves, they can well write what they like, who can verify they are correct? No one, so we have to take their word for it, and to me their word means sh*t, so do the numbers.

usual tin pot regimes of 4th World African countries and milking the Catholic drain in the Central/South American countries, nothing new, notice no figures of the amount that are leaving or the great inroads into China and India (joint over 2 billion) or the billions in Islamic nations, or the countries that are enjoying zero and negative growth rates. Remember how they used to bang on about the former Soviet Union and Japan?.

I will edit the report to add that there are closer to 2 million sincere witlesses and 5.5 million that are either faking it, having time turned in on their behalf, or are not free to blow out. If there are even fewer sincere witlesses, I would not be surprised. As for the number that are actually "sincere", I believe most are in it to ruin others' lives. Take those out, and I believe there would be less than 100,000 total.

The rate of increase (the 2nd derivative for all you math geeks) continues to decrease. At some point in the not-too-distant future it will level off and then the decreases will start (barring some global catastrophe that sends inactive & indifferent JWs scurrying back for a time).

It's like getting excited for getting a 3% savings rate when inflation is 3%. Net real increase is 0, and that's assuming the numbers are real.

WIKI states global population increase last year was 1.1%. So since China hardly has JWs, which is 20% of world pop. (at pop. increase of .47%). ,, take away that percentage, then elsewhere the world pop. would be a little higher (??),,so, plenty close to any WT percentage increase claim.

Or maybe they are not going to publish it?????

They have said that they do not know and do not want to know how many "real anointed" remain. And they have taken away all their status and centred authority with the G B ...so why publish a meaningless figure?

    Have to wait and see
