God - is this really what you had planned for your righteous ones?

Many have arrogantly made the claim (myself included at before I woke up) that we knew that there is a God who cares about us, evidenced by the fact that he created this beautiful home for us, sent his son etc. To add to this arrogance the bibles says that the almighties sovereignty is tied up with humans on this spec of nothing in the universe, known as planet earth, which the bible claims will stand to time indefinite.

    Eccl 1:4

4 A generation is going, and a generation is coming; but the earth is standing even to time indefinite.5 And the sun also has flashed forth, and the sun has set, and it is coming panting to its place where it is going to flash forth.

    Ps 104:5

He has founded the earth upon its established places; It will not be made to totter to time indefinite, or forever.

    Ps 37:29 (NIV)

The righteous will inherit the land and dwell in it forever.

How can one reconcile that this, or any of the bibles claims, that God really cares, given these following facts/contradictions? These facts below plainly establish that the earth and by extension our galaxy really aren’t designed to last to time indefinite, as the bible puts it. In fact we see complete entropy and destruction headed straight out way!

    • Andromeda galaxy is on a collision course with the Milky Way galaxy.

    • The Suns finite lifespan

The righteous that will inherit the land forever, might want to hedge their bets and think about building some space craft instead of blindly following a spirit in the sky.

The collision with the Andromeda galaxy has negligible effects, because by then, life as we know it will cease to exist.

Without intervention, by the time that the two galaxies collide, the surface of the Earth will have already become far too hot for liquid water to exist, ending all terrestrial life, which is currently estimated to occur in about 1.4 billion years due to gradually increasing luminosity of the Sun.

Tootired, I asked this recently on another board, and if you believe that the universe is evidence of design, that then God will intervene. At least, that's the excuse that was given.

    Actually I don't believe it.

I do agree that the sun will go first, but this fact that the Andromeda galaxy is on a collision course with the milky way speaks volumes about the universes entropy rather than perfect harmonious order as some would have us believe. I mean after all, this is the planet that God terraformed for everlasting life, it stands to reason that the evidence that we cleary see today should not be a reality if the bibles claims were true.

The shattered remains of planets that bear a striking resemblance to our own Earth have been found around white dwarf stars - offering a vision of what will one day happen to our planet.

The religious will always counter that God Magic will save the day.

He will alter the paths of galaxies and make time stand still etc. etc.

You can't argue with people that believe God Magic.

    1.4 billion years?

I'm wondering about the more immediate problem of peak population?

Please keep in mind that what you quote from the Bible is a translation of original text according to the whims of the translators and the very 'original' text may have been tampered too.

Naw, Jehoopla will never let that happen. Repent! How dare you look up "facts" on the INTERNET?!?

Another thing about Earth is that 98% of species are now extinct. That contradicts this verse:

(Psalm 104:24-31) . . .How many your works are, O Jehovah! All of them in wisdom you have made. The earth is full of your productions. 25 As for this sea so great and wide, There there are moving things without number, Living creatures, small as well as great. 26 There the ships go; As for Le·vi′a·than, him you have formed to play about in it. 27 All of them—for you they keep waiting To give [them] their food in its season. 28 What you give them they pick up. You open your hand—they get satisfied with good things. 29 If you conceal your face, they get disturbed. If you take away their spirit, they expire, And back to their dust they go. 30 If you send forth your spirit, they are created; And you make the face of the ground new. 31 The glory of Jehovah will prove to be to time indefinite

Why the double standard? Jehovah feeds animals with his own hands, but doesn't bother about their extinction. Yikes!

Good point on the translations, I just wanted to highlight the bibles plan for the earth, and how it really contradicts what we are able to see now because of science.
