...though I guess the reasons why are silly. In a sense, but it makes me wonder on what's to come in the future.

I hate it this time of the year with a wife in the cult who's been taught not to celebrate Christmas. My company is having a Holiday party and she agreed to go to one but because we were also bought out and some of us are leaving and moving on, someone decided to have another one with just the employees of our company alone.

I wanted to go to that one too, but I did not want to go alone. I asked the wifey but she said no. I guess it is no big deal but I really wanted to go to that one too. There's no real reason for her not to go but she is 'taking a stand for the TRUTH.'

    I hate this CULT.

you could try the "theyre both holiday leaving parties" ?

so you can say goodbye to your friends.

I hear you loud and clear, garyneal. Imagine being an operating executive of a large, multinational company whose division had an employees' Christmas dinner party every year. Imagine 300 celebrating couples watching the boss (me) being MC, giving the annual warm, funny, seasonal speech and everyone wondering "Where's his wife?" Boy do I hear you.

I'm certainly going to try and wear her down. I'm afraid this may work against me as she may take it as a sign of 'Satan trying to tempt her.' Why is it that some religious extremist see things only in black and white?

Sorry to hear that, but I definitely understand your dilema. I often make excuses when people ask me 'where's the wife' when I am at functions that she cannot attend because of her religion. It sucks... Times like this, I definitely rethink my choices but never-the-less, I love her.

Please hang in there and try to keep your chin up. This cult does suck. I hope things improve for you.

Hey Gary, I just wanted to say your reasons aren't silly, far from it. I can't tell you how many JW relationships with two believing mates struggle because of one being an elder, or one being a pioneer. Many a married brother or sister has had regretted marriage within Da Troof because when married to a die hard JW, they really don't have a companion. They don't have wives or husbands, instead they have elders and pioneers. Your situation is worse, because you're not a JW. They even have a label for guys like you. "Unbelieving Mates!" Give you a heads up too, this weeks last Service Meeting part is about "unbelieving mates." This Thursday while families across the USA will be eating turkey dinners with family, congregations of JWs will be discussing how to reach out to "unbelieving mates." You should check out that article, I'm sure its linked somewhere on this board. There's some real gems on there. You mentioned the future, after this article is discussed, depending on how lazy your wife's congregation is, you may or may not recieve some attempts by brothers and sisters showing you "personal interest."

By the way man, I hope you feel better. I hope the best for you and your wife, and your marriage. I envy you regarding the very fact you at least have a wife. Hang in the breh.

Hang in there Gary. My husband won't even go to an "end of the year party" even though witnesses who own companies throw them for their employees. They demonize everything.

Maybe you could ask your wife if she would only go to the second party instead, if that's the one that will mean the most to you. It would be nice to say goodbye to your fellow workmates. Is it more of a retirement party? You could try and angle it that way maybe? Good luck!

**I often make excuses when people ask me 'where's the wife' when I am at functions that she cannot attend because of her religion**

as a jw that would have made perfect sense to me, but now i've been out for years on the other side of the fence i can say with hand on heart that

**at home with the squits** or **at home with a migraine** would actually work just as well, if not better.

I used to just say my wife is a JW, and left it at that.
