    "It's Paradise, a 1000 years!"
"No more sorrow, no more tears."
See the pictures in my book?
Close your eyes and take a look.......

A child of nine on Meeting night
    fighting boredom, guilt and fear.
    Scared of Demons coming near.
Scared of bedtime and the dark
Scared to put my head down.
Keep the light on! Stay awake!
Don't let the Demons take their shape.

    I'm sorry I was bad
I see them coming, grinning, grinning
With knives for fingers, "MUM! DAD!"

    I'm screaming all alone
I feel my blood, I feel it's warmth,
    The demons leave me dead.
It's dark in here, awake again
Wet and shaking, cold in bed.

i haven't been able to stop reading this site for the past two days. I've been alternately laughing and crying and cheering.

After reading 'a child of nine' I just had to logon to tell you thanks - for speaking for that kid i used to be, and still am lots of nites. After so-o-oo many years i just don't feel so alone anymore.

You're not alone talesin. Thousands of small children have suffered from nightmares thanks to the evocative language and images of the Watchtower. I genuinely used to dread going to my room when I was little as I was so terrified of falling asleep.

Though we shouldn't lose perspective - many, many kids suffer serious physical, sexual or emotional abuse - at the same time the fear that the meetings can instill into young children should never be dismissed.

If any here still go to the Kingdom Hall, look out for them.

Thank you for that poem...so touching. Such memories :(

Yes, please do look out for the children at the Hall if you still go.

Despite my wishes...every Sunday, my child is one of them...at least she has me to come home to.

((((((((((hugs to all the children who's childhoods were stolen by the REAL monsters...)))))))

(((((Nic)))))) Beautiful, haunting and touching. I never thought how scared my kids must have been to hear such stuff.

You know, I am serious about talking to that nine year old. Imagine yourself sitting on the side of the bed of that terrified kid. Imagine yourself reaching out to comfort and reassure. Imagine that child coming into your arms, sitting on your lap, and being comforted and reassured. Repeat as needed.

    Thanks Nic'

I'm so sorry anyone one of us ever had to go through the things we have. I've asked the question before I wonder who I could have been if not for my upbringing. Any of us for that matter. Your poem was a delight to read and made the past seem as if it were alive today. I look to the future to read more of anyones work from now or as a child. I sincerely hope that those who do share are not critized anymore and feel free to share those feeling with everyone as I believe this is theraputic. In the past and very recently I have seen those who mock those who have shared as you did and it hurts me deeply to see this type of treatment.

    Thanks

    Hugs

    Cassi
