  I mentioned a taped pro-j.w. program on local t.v. in Rhode Island which appeared Wednesday night at 8 p.m. Unfortunately, it was 8:20 p.m. when I found out about it.

  In case anyone in the area is interested, it will be rebroadcast at 5 p.m. Firday afternoon, July 14th, on Cox cable, New England, on local channel 13, statewide interconnect A. The program is titled..."Now's the Time".

  I plan to tape it, and maybe comment on it in the forum after I review it. I will be interested to see what the j.w.'s actually do and don't discuss in these "infomercials".

  A related side-point.

  About 2 years ago I saw a commercial for the wt society in Toronto. Viewers were encouraged to call a toll-free 800 number to arrange to have someone call on them. Well, I was shocked, to say the least, as I was always of the undrstanding that the wt did not use mass-media in their preaching work. To make a long story short, I contacted the station over which the commercial was aired, and requested, at my expense, a copy of the tape. The PR person I spoke to said 'she would be happy to send me a copy for free'. About 3 weeks later I called the same person to check on the status of my copy. I was run around, put on hold, hung up on for about 5 days before I was able to, by mistake I believe, speak to her. She told me that shortly after the commercial aired, they received a call from someone "high up" in the wt society, and told to destroy all copies of the commercial or face legal action.

  Stealth, I guess it was about ten years or so ago that I heard the WTS had created a department for public information. (I think that was its name.) Since I create commercials for a living, I was asked through a C.O. to write some radio ads. My C.O.'s involvement in this department was apparently discontinued so nothing happened. But about three years ago the WTS definitely had some TV ads airing. You used to be able to view them right on their website too, but I don't see them anymore.

  I had never seen one before in Canada. I had heard rumours that there were some running in the States. I may be out-dated here, but I remember way back when I was an active dub, the idea of commercials was seriously frowned upon.

  Must be new old brighter newer light, or something like that.
