I remeber hearing a couple of years back that if an organistion has any information held on you and you request to view it they have to show it to you. Has any one asked to see the information held on their DFing ? Also has any one asked for the infomation to be destroyed, which, i think the org would have to do as well.

    Hello Rick,

21st Aug 2002, we wrote to the London Bethell to request the following:

Please can you forward all copies of personal information pertaining to us, that are being held
    on your database.
The copies should be sent to our home address as stated above.
We enclose a stamped addressed envelope for your use.

23rd Aug 2002 - we received the following reply -
...The Act empowers recipients of such enquiries to levy a charge for processing the enquiry
and the Trustees of this charity have decided to levy a charge of £10 per person, as provided for in
    section 7(2)(b) of the legislation.

In addition, we have a duty to satisfy ourselves as to the identity of each data subject before
disclosure of the data ........please therefore provide

1 a cheque or postal order payable to Watch Tower Society Britain, for the required fee.
    2 Proof of your identity

    9th Sept 2002 - We received a reply -
We confirm that we have carefully reviewed our files and we have no personal data disclosable
under the Data Protection Act 1998 that we can identify as relating to you. If you wish to provide any
supplementary information ...eg. previous town in which you lived or a congregation of
Jehovah's Witnesses with which you associated, we shall make a further search of the files.

At that point we gave up, lost £20.00 and got no reply showing any data !!!

    Hi

I have posted on this topic before, but here is my understanding on the subject once again.

The JC that DF'd you sends a report to the Service Desk and keeps a report on file for ever. Also if ever you decide to return to the Borg and lets say you have moved , even as far as overseas for example, the new Congregation you're in will contact the congregation where you were DF'd. They will then post them your file. If they are near enough the same Elders will even be invited to come and be part of the einstatement JC.

IN OTHER WORDS...YOU CANNOT EVER BE ERASED.

Forget about trying to get your records....its the only bit of crap they have left to hold over your head if you return...which you shouldn't

I would certainly like to see what this organization has in my personal file. I seriously doubt that I could view its, unadulterated, contents under any circumstance. Other than, breaking and entering.

A little more than a year ago I was DF'd by the most ignorant assemblage of uneducated and unenlightened committee of clowns that ever slithered into the back room of a Kingdom Hall.

After a serious encounter between an elder's son and my four year old boy, who was seriously and deliberately injured, I was admonished to keep my mouth shut, stay away from the police, and not let the incident be known to any other members of the congregation who may have other small children at risk of harm by the eldere's sadistic son. I was guaranteed that justice would be forthcoming, within the congregation. After waiting for more than six months I asked the P.O. what had been done. He informed me, "This elder and the rest of the elder-body was not accountable to me for anything!" That's when "it" hit the fan.

I was in college at that time, and writing a regular editorial and opinion column for a local newspaper. I was summoned into the back room of the Kingdom Hall for erroneous purpose and charged with "Serving two masters" because I was a Witnees who was writing opinion, and only the Governing Body was authorized and ordained to issue opinion on anything. I asked the committee of elders if they had ever read any of my columns. I couldn't believe it when they all said, "No!"

It took severeal months but, my anger at their abject stupidity changed to JOY! All of my family is either now inactive or disassociated from this entire congregation and organization of morons. I was DF'd for exercising the same First Amendment Rights that insures their very existence.

Was I apostate? No! Am I now? Vociferously so!

I may write a book on this Organization, but it could never compare to "Crisis of Conscience."

But, my basic instinct for truth and justice might compell me to seek out my personal information secretly cloistered in the Hallowed Kingdom Hall. My grandparents were Sicilian, from the old country. I learned how to make people "offers they can't refuse" at a very early age. But, it's really not worth the effort. Because, "They can't hurt me anymore!"

    Nick, That is stunning!

But... GREAT NEWS that you and your family is OUT!!!

I think that since no one can really verify that information isn't there, the WT can collect money and easily say "Sorry, no information on you"... But if you have had a JC, you would surely be able to dispute that, right?

That was a great first post Nick.

Welcome to the board. I hope you have a great time here.

You too Rick, I hope you will find the answers you are looking for here. Some good questions. I wonder if there is any info on me, still in there? I really don't give a toss one way or the other. Never dunked, so maybe there would be nothing except for historical articles.
