IT'S TIME TO SPANK THE WATCHTOWER!

I see that a number of JW defenders feel that ex-JWs are 'picking' on the Watch Tower Society, and still do not get the clue. These defenders seem to think that we are silent about other religions, and that we are just embellishing this issue because we have an ulterior motive to engage in a hate campaign.

Let's look at a little history. The Watch Tower religion has through its history, especially from J. F. Rutherford's time, engaged in the most horrid bashing of all religions, especially the Catholic Church and Protestant denominations. Every time a Priest or Minister did anything wrong, we see articles in the Watchtower and little news clips in the Awake! And at times the WTS has even devoted entire books to bashing religions, such as, but not limited to their large book called, Babylon the Great has Fallen! - God's Kingdom Rules!

Do ex-JWs talk about the guilt of other groups? Absolutely! The Roman Catholic Church has been in a hotbed of lawsuits for shifting around pedophile Priests and covering this over. Many Protestant Ministers have likewise been removed, reported, and served jail time for pedophilia. The Anglican Church in Canada is reportedly going bankrupt because of lawsuits over pedophiles in their church. Public and Private Schools, Day Care Centers, and other places where children are gathered and accessible have been sued and forced to change policies. New legislation and regulations have been created to monitor and control these environments. Now the LDS/Mormon Church is facing a battery of lawsuits and will be forced to come into line with other groups. All these have been discussed and considered.

Then, are ex-JWs really picking on the WTS? Absolutely Not! Our experience, information, documentation, and insight is based on decades of association with the Watch Tower religion. The Watch Tower religion has yet to be dealt with as have other religions, social groups, and institutions. So, where else do we have to focus our experience? It would be a waste of time for ex-JWs to run around and worry about 7th Day Adventists, WWCOG, Pentecostals, Baptists, Catholics, and so on.

The Day of reckoning has arrived! None one of us can predict how the next few months will play out in the media or later on in the court rooms across America and other nations. The time has arrived, however, to bring every hidden out into the light. Maybe God is using ex-JWs to do this with respect to the WTS.

Jesus said, "For every one that does evil hates the light, and does not come to the light, lest his works should be reproved. But he that does the truth comes to the light, that his works may be made manifest, that they have been wrought in God." - John 3:20-21

Jesus also said, "For there is nothing hid, except that it should be manifested; neither was (anything) made secret, but that it should come to light." - Mark 4:22

The light is starting to shine and expose these secrets of the Watch Tower religion. If the Watch Tower leaders and the JWs who follow them really love truth, they will come to the light and accept reproof and repent and humble themselves. Or they can keep hiding this evil, and force responsible society and the civil authorities to spank the Watch Tower religion and face a much harsher judgment. The choice is theirs to make.

Ex-JWs are NOT responsible for this harm. We are NOT hurting the Watch Tower religion. The religion brought this on itself. The pedophiles caused the real harm to victims, and the Watch Tower religion is an enabler of pedophiles, and a very dysfunctional religion. The only medicine they need now is to be brought to justice and have their arrogant and haughty spirit brought low. - Amazing

    Quit callling it a religion.

    Let's call a spade a spade here.

It's a CULT, clear and simple! All cults should be exposed for what they trully are!

You're right, Peter. It's a cult. It's a cult pure and simple by any definition of cult anyone would like to use.

The post from Sarah who had a CO and elder invade their homes has me so furious I could spit. It is time to put an end to those arrogant bastards. What they need is a large lesson in humility, and I aim to do all in my power to help see they get it. And I hope all of you will too.

Spank? I like the idea of a punch in the mouth myself.

I would respond that ALL religions are CULTS. Anytime something works based on fear then it fits a common definition of the word CULT. Witnesses use fear of Armageddon as a tool, Catholics and others use fear of Hellfire as a tool.

I'm not so sure ALL religions are based on fear. Perhaps a cult uses fear to perpetuate itself, whereas a religion provides ways for its members to handle their fears. We're all fearful of something.

    Philo,

Which religions do not prey on fear to keep people as members or to keep members in line? I have yet to find one.

Yes, the Watch Tower organization exhibits the traits of abuse and those of a 'cult'. They are worse than some groups and better than others. Nevertheless, they are still a religion, even though they are cultish.

Yes, my use of 'spanking' is more moderate than perhaps what we may really feel or would like to say. Using it was more to cite the need for public humiliation and discipline in a 'humorous' or 'sarcastic' way that caused me to say 'spank', than maybe using a more severe term.

Regardless, it is time for the Watch Tower Society to face some serious discipline and be forced through public pressure and maybe some judicial process to change their ways. It is really long overdue, and the interest on their 'abuse debt' is quite high.

I remember when the Society would say at District Conventions that the religions of Christendom have made the 'name of God stink to the high heavens.' Well, the Watch Tower Society has brought even more serious reproach on God's name in many ways, and they have made the name Jehovah stink to the high heavens. For a religion that purports to be so eager to honor that name, they have done just the opposite. - Amazing

Fear controls may be used by all religions, however they are used in advertising, and politics as well, to mention just two areas, which are quite close the the JW approach - namely, evangelism and order. So I don't think your definition works well enough.

If it could be shown that X religion makes people more fearful than non-religious people, that would open the case for saying X is a cult, but it wouldn't prove it.

I think you have to fall back on notions of human rights, does the religion violate these for it's members? It's dodgy ground, way too complex for me, or for a fear-based identification, imo.
