August km re media reports

Not sure if this has been highlighted on the board, but in the August KM there's an interesting paragraph in the front page article "You Are A Theatrical Spectacle":

Sometimes the media publish reports about the activities of Jehovah's people. While we appreciate good reports that are factual and fair in dealing with our work, we also expect bad reports to be spread by our detractors from time to time. Nevertheless, we must continue recommending ourselves as God's ministers "through bad report and good report" (2 Cor. 6: 4,8) To honesthearted observers it becomes clear that we are the true disciples of Jesus Christ.

Count the instances of loaded language in that paragraph! I simply cannot believe that this is not WT damage control starting in order to try and minimize discomfiture in the ranks when the forthcoming Dateline program airs.

It certainly looks like a pre-emptive strike by the WTS to do damage control...and after the Dateline program airs, the "faithfull" dubs will feel like they are persecuted (and of course, that will make them feel closer to each other), and that the mother organization was right in warning them about it.

Just makes me sick how brainwashed they all are!

"To honesthearted observers it becomes clear that we are the true disciples of Jesus Christ."

I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

    Hello expatbrit:

Perfectly typical, I must say. [8>] Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see the WTS explanation also to be "this persecution is just another fulfillment of prophecy of the signs of the end, just as the faithful and discreet slave has been warning us...we're even much closer to the end than ever before".

As Ozzie noted, should we laugh or cry at the statement:

To honesthearted observers it becomes clear that we are the true disciples of Jesus Christ."

So to be considered "honesthearted", they will have to see themselves still as the "true disciples" instead of thinking that there is something wrong with the org after being made aware of the "proof" of their blunders.

I shudder to think how many will actually blindly and numbly nod their heads at that statement or any other lame excuse that will certainly be pushed after this exposure.

    Hemmo Expatbrit,

thanks for the post, a good
eye! In this part of Western Europe we do say:

"..putting your hands in front ...to save you face.."

    Wts is just doing that.

I'm amazed at how subtle the bastards are. When the SilentLambs stuff first hit the fan there were predictions of all sorts of things being said about paedophilia by the org including KMS acting skits about how to handle questions at the door about paedophilia. Instead of highlighting the paedophilia, they've simply said that anything negative about the org is from you-know-who. It may well be marginally effective, as this tactic has been in the past, but for how long? At least without the KMS roleplaying practice, there at least may be some hard questions asked at doors which may give momentary pause to the R&F. Hopefully the Dateline article will influence people who've been harbouring fears about "raising their hand against the Lord's annointed" (is that phrase ever used by Dubs? It was in my old Pentecostal church whenever I questioned leadership) to come forward and expose the dark deeds that are being covered up in the name of Jehovah's "clean" organisation.

When does that Dateline program air?

Notice also they say 'true disciples of jesus christ...they dont mention Jehovah. You may also be seeing the beginning of using careful language to make them seem more like a mainstream religion. They are kissing up to ceaser like they did during world war II to nazi germany to save their own asses.

Depending on how strong the case Dateline shows, this technique won't work anymore, especially if you start seeing more and more elders being arrested. It's also possible that JW's who view the program who have been abused will start coming out in droves. This could pretty much cripple the JW, and signal the end for just another millenialist cult that will be a footnote in history.

A class-action lawsuit would be nice, with damages against the WTBTS in the billions. That would also cripple them.

I mailed to a whole neighborhood where a sister lives. It was a 3 page letter that exposed the Watchtower. It hit hard and killed 2 budding studies on that street.

Interestingly, the sister said "This must be the persecution that we were told would come"

She couldn't see the forest for the trees.

The facts revealed about the ivory Tower made no headway with her. Her brain is burnt.

BUT, it the WTBTS folded up, this would make them start to rethink, although even THAT would take time.

I think that if you set a JW on fire, and the GB said that they were NOT on fire, they would make no effort to stop-drop-and roll. They would just keep going door to door while on fire.

The question then is, if a JW on fire came to your door, would you put them out? Or would you even open the door? After all, a burning ember might ignite a curtain or something.
