The Watchtower Society seem to have a split personality. On the one hand they commend something, whilst on the other they condemn it.
Have you wondered about the Society's identifying Christ's Kingdom as a business corporation? The WTBTS has grown to become a major multi-national publishing corporation and the growth of the corporate body is lauded in the WT publications. Yet we have become accustomed to reading study articles and hearing talks instructing the R&F to beware of getting involved in 'big business'. Typical is this slight against executives in an Awake! magazine:
“Men who leave corporate executive jobs in the middle of their careers for less high paying and high pressure pursuits, often have happier lives and marriages as a result, says a university study. . . .(Issue of September 8, 1980, page 11)
“‘In general, the men have sought ways in which they could better control their destiny, see the results of their work and help other people at the same time,’ [a researcher] said.”—The Denver “Post.”
Contrast this with the words of Joe Ratherflawed, originator of the JWs corporate mentality. Throughout the book Light (Book One) he uses the title Chief Executive when referring to Jesus Christ.
Lest we get misled, nowhere in Scripture does this title get used. Jesus is portrayed not as a business executive, but as a glorious reigning King, who when he apprears again brings his angels with him.
Cheers,
Ozzie
