Song No. 32 - "From House to House"

From house to house, from door to door, annoying everyone
Who huddle down and make no sound until they're sure we've gone
Of course they do not realise we'll just come back again
We write 'NH' on our 'S8' and count the time again.

From bus to bus, from train to train, 'informal witnessing'
Of course it's just a way for us to not do anything!
We leave the plodding up to those who choose to pioneer
The wierd and smelly we avoid or those we think are queer (no offense to anyone :)

Of course it's not at every door we find a hearing ear
And if we do, the chances are, they're on their fourteenth beer
'Twas just the same in Jesus' day, no one would hear his word
But then the crap they make us say is really quite absurd

They send us out, from door to door, to spread the "kingdom news"
It's either that or clean the hall and polish all the loos (that's a toilet in england)
The magazines we carry round are full of doom and gloom
And most of them we do not sell just end up in our room

Oops I forgot, they're not 'for sale', we give them at 'no charge'
But not 'no cost', I know I lost, ten quid on this last batch
So when we come, annoying you, and knocking on your door
We're suffering as much as you - in fact we suffer more.

Hope I haven't offended anyone - I had trouble getting something to rhyme with pioneer...

    Simon,

The bible and God's spirit send us to house to house and door to door. We are not forced to do it. It should come from our hearts. You know the heart can be wicked. And I cannot see anything wrong if someone wants to tell you something good for the bible from their hearts.

Heh, very good Simon. I assume this was inspired by Slipnslide's post on the 4th?

Which, I have on good authority, is very amusing.

***And most of them we do not sell just end up in our room***

Those pesky little mags, were always so hard to get rid of. Not to mention handel, remember those brown paper rolls of mags. The poor litearture servant, had to slice those things open, then try and make em lay flat on the counter...they would ,for days after opening, try and roll back up...by the time you got them in your book-bag...and weathered a few Saturday mornings...they always seemed to end up rolled up, dog eared, and unfit for anything but the trash can.

Like someone else said, what a waste of natural resources.

    Simon:
Wow! Well done. Song parodies work best if they stick to the original sound and rhythms as much as possible. This one is great!

Seeker, where are you? Care to dust off the brown-book and have a go? Please? We need a lighthearted break about now.

    Cheers all,
    Was

Nows the chance to make up some REAL time. PROVE the above statement, using the Bible.
