Why are the publications anonymously written?

The society would like to say this is done (except for the 'life stories') because 'all recognition' blah blah blah should go to Jehovah...but what do you think are the REAL reasons why everything is published anonymously?

And, is this also a common practice in other religious articles/publications?

While they say that the reason is for credit to go to God, having writers cloaked in anonymity keeps readers/critcs from investigating the credentials of the writers.

I think that the articles are written by a computer program called TowerWord 6.0. All the member of the writing committee has to do is punch in something like "family" or "discouragement" or "submissive loyal theocratic examples to beat the flock with". Then it makes this whooshing sound like an espresso machine, shakes a little bit, and a few minutes later, 22 stale paragraphs of mind numbing nonsense, with plenty of words and phrases such as "Certainly", "it would be fine", "take care not to stumble", "righteous", "loyal", "faithful", "preach the good news", etc.

Because it gives a singular, organizational voice to the literature. It is not the writings of imperfect, individual men, it is manna from God's Organization....blah blah blah

The WTS is sure interested to know who the human authors of the bible were, but when it comes time to accredit their own publications authorship is deemed un-important under the guise of humility!!

Flash , they don?t want people to know a) how little if any involvement any member of the GB has in the development of any WT article, b) how many (30 or more) of the non-anointed brothers at Bethel are involved. I swear there is a brother just in charge of commas, one for periods, one for paragraph indentations. I also know that one brother makes a change and another comes by and puts it back. The brother(s) in charge of resource citations has been falling down on the job lately.

I wondered the same thing Boa. This is what Blondie told me during her 4/18 WT discussion.

Also remember the big wave of disfellowshippings in the 1980's. Many followed Edward Dunlap, a writer and Gilead instructor who wrote the book "Commentary of the Letter James" and contributed to other books as well. Many followed Brother Dunlap and Ray Franz. This probably was the biggest fear the society may have ever had considering that fine thinking minds may stray from the Governing Body's edicts and waves of followers may go with writers of publications.

Whats funny is that in all the years of my being a Witness The Commentary of the Letter James was one of the few books I enjoyed studying at the Tuesday night bookstudy. It was written simplistic yet brought out many points that the Society never mentioned or tried to stomp into our minds.
