NON - WITNESSES:"As a thinking person, however, you would do well to consider some pertinent questions." ( WT.4 - 15 - 95, P.5 ) In other words, non-witnesses can do there own independent thinking.

WITNESS:"Avoid independent thinking" ( WT. 1 - 15 - 83,P.22 ) In other words, Witnesses cannot be ' thinking persons';the Society does there thinking for them.

    NON - WITNESSES:"An Open Mind Wins God's Approval". ( AW. 11/22/84,P.8 )

WITNESS:"Think:Have I progressively made my mind over?" ( WT.8/15/72,p.505 ) In other words,Witnesses are not permitted to have an open mind. They listen only to what the Society says.

NON-WITNESS:"Truly it is "intellectually dishonest'not to want any opposing views heard." ( AW.10/22/73 p.7 ) Really? Then what about what follows next?

WITNESSES:"Do you wisely destroy apostate material?" ( WT.3/15/86,P.12 )In other words, Witnesses are not allowed to consider views opposing those of the Society.

NON-WITNESSES:"We need to examine...what is taught by any religious organization with which we may be associated." ( The Truth That Leads to Eternal Life, 1968, p.13 )

WITNESSES:"...We shall not be suspicious, but shall, as the Bible says,'believe all things',all the things that the WT. brings out..."( Qualified to be Ministers, 1967, p.156. ) In other words, Witnesses may not critically examine the Society's doctrines. Now watch what comes next!

    NON-WITNESSES:"However, The Watchtower...invites careful and critical examination of its contents..." ( WT.8/15/50, p.263 )

WITNESSES:"Does this set a precedent for regarding critically the publications...?Not at all! ( WT.2/15/81, p.18 )In other words, Witnesses cannot be openly critical of The Watchtower.

This just some of the Society's two sets of scales.

    Right on Blue,

The 2 sets of scales are critical. They MUST have one set to control, and in case anyone complains, SUES, or WANTS TO TAX THEM they MUST have the other to prove they don't control.

This is their business plan, their ideology, and their "definition" of who / what they are !!

I heard a CO say that why would JWs examine their beliefs, they already had "the truth."

Then they turn around and say that the GB/WTs is not infallible.

I figure you have a house inspected when you initially buy it.

It is sound reasoning to have it "inspected" at regular intervals after that to catch any areas that need repair. But the WTS thinks they are the only ones qualified to make inspections.

How shall we view the spiritual food provided by this "faithful and discreet slave"? Should it be viewed critically??Oh, well, it might be true but then again it might not be and so we have to scrutinize it very critically?? Some apparently have felt that way about it. To support their way of thinking they have quoted Acts 17:11, which says of newly interested persons at Beroea: "Now the latter were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with the greatest eagerness of mind, carefully examining the Scriptures daily as to whether these things were so."

But does this mean that those Beroeans were looking for flaws in the message they were hearing, or that their attitude was one of doubting? Does this set a precedent for regarding critically the publications brought forth by the "faithful and discreet slave," with a view to finding fault? Not at all!

First of all, let us note the setting of the statement about the noble-minded Beroeans. Paul, accompanied by Silas, was on his second missionary tour. Due to persecution that arose, the brothers at Thessalonica sent them on to Beroea. In Beroea they met sincere Jews who had strong faith in God?s Word. These were not Christians yet. They were simply interested persons who had to satisfy themselves that what Paul was telling them had the support of the Hebrew Scriptures.

Up to this time, these devout Jews in Beroea may never have heard of Jesus Christ. What Paul was telling them was entirely new. So those noble-minded Jews in Beroea searched the Scriptures daily to make certain that the references that Paul gave were really part of God?s Word. And with what mental attitude did they pursue their studies? With a skeptical attitude, trying to prove Paul wrong? No, they were altogether unlike Paul?s critics on Mars Hill, for we read that they heard Paul?s testimony with "the greatest eagerness of mind."?Acts 17:11, 32.
